Life Planning for Adolescents and Youths Reproductive Health
The third day of the 3 say Media Advocacy Training on Family Planning organized by The Challenge Initiative (TCI) in Minna discussed the lack of awareness for the adolescents and youth about Life Planning and Reproductive Health.
Dr. Olusola Solanke made the introduction and spoke on the population of young people in Nigeria which is estimated to be 36.5 Million and 5,556,747 (2015 NBS) in Niger state. He also stated that over 4.7 million (15 – 19) are sexually active, girls on an average have their first sexual debut at 15 – 19 years and 17 years for boys.
Dr. Solanke spoke on the primary goal of TCI and their objectives, the obstacles faced by adolescents when it comes to Life Planning.
Mr. Onche Odeh, Facilitator from Development Communication Network shared light on the involvement of the media in reducing maternal and child birth mortality in Nigeria.
Participants discussed their expectations over the next five months on reporting Family Planning, Media Forum and Advocacy visits.
Today ends the 3 days programme.
